Egypt, Spain Rebuff Israeli Occupation Practices In The West Bank


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Sept 17 (KUNA) -- Egyptian President Abdulfattah Al-Sisi and Spanish King Felipe VI on Wednesday emphasized their joint and utter rejection of the Israeli occupation illegitimate practices in the West Bank.
The two leaders expressed their firm rejection of the occupation's settlements expansion and threats to annex more Palestinian territories, condemning this approach as a flagrant breach of the international law.
The joint stand was declared by the Egyptian Presidency Spokesperson Ambassador Mohammad Al-Shennawi, saying that the two leaders expressed their firm objection to the occupation schemes during a meeting in Cairo today.
King Felipe VI's current visit to Egypt was the first of this high level since Cairo and Madrid proclaimed elevating their relationship to the level of strategic partnership in February 2025.
Ambassador Al-Shennawi added in the statement that the talks between the two presidents dealt with regional, international developments, means of beefing up further the close relations and cooperation in various fields.
President Al-Sisi expressed during the meeting his appreciation of Spain's support for establishing just peace in the Middle East, its recognition of the State of Palestine and voting for the two-state solution's declaration by the UN General Assembly.
The two sides affirmed necessity of capitalizing on the current momentum to expand the relations and cooperation in transports, commerce and archeology.
The spokesperson added that the monarch was briefed by president Al-Sisi about Egypt's intensive efforts to enforce a ceasefire in Gaza and the king in turn affirmed the necessity for a truce immediately, in addition to releasing the prisoners and sending aid to the enclave.
Moreover, the two parties expressed emphatic rejection of schemes to evict the Palestinians from their territories as such an eventuality would adversely affect neighboring countries and ultimately Europe. (end)
