EU 19Th Sanctions Package To Target Russia's Crypto, Banks, Energy, Von Der Leyen Says

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced this on following a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump, Ukrinform reports.

"I had a good call with U.S. President Donald Trump on strengthening our joint efforts to increase economic pressure on Russia through additional measures. The Commission will soon present its 19th package of sanctions, targeting crypto, banks, and energy," von der Leyen wrote.

She reminded that Russia's war economy, sustained by revenues from fossil fuels,“is financing the bloodshed in Ukraine.”

In this context, the European Commission will propose“speeding up the phase-out of Russian fossil imports.”

As reported by Ukrinform, the European Union is working on its 19th sanctions package against Russia.

In July, the European Commission presented a legislative proposal aimed at completely ending the EU's dependence on Russian energy by 2027. In addition, last week Donald Trump urged NATO allies to stop importing oil from Russia.
