The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) carried out a major operation at the Torkham border, seizing a large consignment of narcotics smuggled from Afghanistan in a truck carrying honeybees.

Acting on a tip-off, ANF teams intercepted the Afghan cargo vehicle and shifted it to Peshawar for inspection. During the search, 17.5 kilograms of heroin and 4.5 kilograms of crystal meth (ice) were recovered from expertly crafted secret compartments inside the truck's rear axle shaft box.

According to the ANF spokesperson, the total seized narcotics weighed 22 kilograms, with an estimated value of Rs246 million. The driver, identified as Momand Ikram, a resident of Nangarhar province in Afghanistan, was arrested on the spot.

A case has been registered against the accused under the Anti-Narcotics Act, and investigations are underway. Raids are being conducted to trace other members of the international smuggling network.

The ANF stated that this successful operation was the result of intelligence-sharing, modern technology, and tireless efforts of its personnel in Afghanistan, Torkham, and Peshawar. The spokesperson reaffirmed that Pakistan's soil would not be allowed to be used as a transit route for international drug trafficking.
