Doha, Qatar: The Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center concluded its Sports League for Expatriate Communities, aiming to combine entertainment with educational activities that help participants learn about the local culture and identity.
The event saw the participation of 80 Filipino players in the basketball league, supported by four referees, and 64 Asian participants in the volleyball league, also accompanied by four referees. The programme was held once a week over the course of a month, featuring the Nepalese community in volleyball and the Filipino community in basketball. The games took place in a lively and energetic atmosphere, reflecting the popularity of these sports, while also including educational segments designed to foster positive interaction between participants and the local community.
It is worth noting that the Sports League is organised annually for the most popular sports among various communities: basketball for the Filipino community, football for the African community, volleyball for the Nepalese community, and cricket for the Indian and Sri Lankan communities.
