Shafallah Center Launches Initiative To Support Innovation
Doha: The Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities, one of the centers under the umbrella of Qatar Social Work Foundation, yesterday announced the launch of Shafallah Hackathon 2025 under the theme:“Innovate: For an Accessible World.”
The event marks the first of its kind in Qatar, specifically aimed at serving people with disabilities, particularly those with cerebral palsy.
The Center stated that Shafallah Hackathon 2025 will commence on September 14 at the Qatar Scientific Club, with wide participation from student teams and innovation enthusiasts. The winning projects and qualifying teams will be honoured during a special ceremony in October, coinciding with World Cerebral Palsy Day, observed annually on October 6.
The event aims to support innovative ideas that serve people with disabilities, raise community awareness of cerebral palsy issues, and provide a platform for students and innovators to propose practical technological and human-centred solutions.
Regarding the hackathon, Director of Community Awareness at Shafallah Center Jawaher Al Hajri emphasised that the initiative represents a qualitative leap in supporting innovative projects designed to facilitate the lives of people with disabilities, noting that it aligns with the Center's mission to build a more inclusive and equitable society.
Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Scientific Club Fatima Al Muhannadi highlighted that the collaboration with Shafallah Center reflects the Club's belief in harnessing technology and innovation for social benefit.
