Jerusalem, Sept. 11 (Petra)-- Israeli occupation forces on Thursday imposed a curfew on the towns of Biddu and Qatanna, northwest of occupied Jerusalem, while arresting 30 Palestinians and demolishing several homes and a school across the West Bank.
The Palestine Red Crescent Society said in a statement that a large number of military vehicles and infantry forces stormed the two towns, imposed a curfew, raided homes, vandalized their contents, and shut down commercial shops. It added that several young men were detained, interrogated in the field, assaulted, and some were arrested.
Separately, Israeli forces arrested 30 Palestinians from various areas in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, among them former detainees and active community leaders, according to the Palestinian Prisoners Society. The arrests took place in Jenin, Salfit, Tulkarm, Bethlehem, Ramallah, and Hebron.
Since the start of the ongoing escalation in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, more than 19,000 arrest cases have been recorded, not including the thousands of detentions in Gaza.
In related developments, Israeli forces today issued a demolition order for Al-Zuwaidin Secondary School, south of Hebron and east of Yatta. Occupation authorities also demolished dozens of homes belonging to residents of Al-Sir village, west of Shaqib Al-Salam in the Negev, an unrecognized community inside occupied Palestine.
According to the High Follow-Up Committee for Arab Citizens of Israel, 25 houses were demolished this morning.
Meanwhile, dozens of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif compound in occupied Jerusalem under heavy police protection. The Islamic Waqf Department in Jerusalem said settlers entered the mosque compound in groups through Bab Al-Maghariba, conducting provocative tours and performing Talmudic rituals under police guard.
During the past week, 604 settlers stormed Al-Aqsa, as broad calls from Jerusalemites and Palestinians inside the occupied territories continue for mobilization and presence at the holy site to confront the occupation's and settlers' schemes.
