Malaysian PM: US Pres. To Attend ASEAN 47Th Summit In Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUPMUR, Sept 10 (KUNA) -- Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim confirmed on Tuesday that US President Donald Trump will visit Malaysia next month to participate in the 47th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Kuala Lumpur.
In a speech delivered at the 50th anniversary dinner of the Ambank Group, which was reported by local media, Ibrahim said that President Trump called him to inform him of his intention to attend the upcoming summit, which will also be attended by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.
He noted that Malaysia is facing challenging times, but is resilient thanks to its economic strength and internal institutions.
Ibrahim siad that his government is determined to continue working to ensure political stability and economic clarity to enhance investor confidence and drive national growth.
Further, he affirmed that his government's economic vision is based on clear policies, including the development of the national semiconductor industry, an energy transition roadmap, and digital transformation, emphasizing that Malaysia's political and economic stability, along with its cultural and social vitality, make it a reliable partner regionally and globally.
The 47th ASEAN Summit will be held at the end of October in Kuala Lumpur, with the participation of the leaders of the ten member states: Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar, along with the Strategic Dialogue partners. (end)
