African Union Condemns Israeli Attack On Qatar, Warns Of Escalation Risks In Middle East
Addis Ababa: Chairperson of the African Union Commission Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, strongly condemned the Israeli attack on Qatar, warning that this attack would further complicate and worsen the fragile situation in the Middle East.
In a statement, the Chairperson of the Commission stressed that this attack poses a direct threat to regional peace, reiterating the African Union's call for restraint, respect for the sovereignty of states, and the protection of civilians.
He also lauded the prominent role played by the State of Qatar in the fields of peace, mediation, and diplomacy, stressing the urgent need to revive dialogue in pursuit of a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.
