ADB Supports Decarbonization Of Azerbaijan's Heating Sector
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has launched a new technical assistance project in Azerbaijan titled“Decarbonization of the Heating Supply Sector and Promotion of Renewable Heat Integration,” Azernews reports.
The initiative, financed through ADB's Clean Energy Fund and Technical Assistance Special Fund, has a total value of $1.1 million.
The project aims to support the implementation of the National Heating Strategy and the Law on Heat Supply by preparing draft regulatory documents, promoting decarbonization of the sector, increasing the efficiency of existing heating systems, optimizing tariff policy, and piloting renewable heat integration. It will also contribute to the preparation of a development strategy for Azeristiliktechizat JSC.
Following a tender process concluded in August, a consortium comprising NIRAS (Denmark), Integration Environment & Energy GmbH (Germany), and ENERGAZER LLC (Azerbaijan) was selected as consultant. The project is expected to be completed by March 2027, with technical support provided by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Energy and Azeristiliktechizat.
