KUWAIT, Sept 9 (KUNA) --
1977 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signed a decree-into-law abolishing concessions to the "independent American oil company."
1995 -- The former minister of commerce Khalifa Al-Ghunaim died at the age of 74. He was a co-founder of the National Bank of Kuwait and the first State of Kuwait Ambassador to Britain. He served as minister of trade in 1963.
1996 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signed a decree banning establishment of industrial facility without permission from the Public Authority of Industry.
1997 -- Failaka Museum transferred relics to Kuwait National Museum after the antiquities were damaged during the Iraq aggression on Kuwait in 1990.
2003 -- Arab states unanimously condemned, for the first time since the blatant Iraqi aggression on the State of Kuwait in 1990, the breaches Iraq perpetrated against the Kuwaiti people such as executions and genocides, including the killing of Kuwaiti prisoners and detainees.
2014 -- United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon designated Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah as the leader of humanitarian action and proclaimed Kuwait as the center for humanitarian action in appreciation for its profound humanitarian contributions and campaigns throughout the world.
2024 -- Ministry of Commerce and Industry launched Taihan Kuwait, the first fiber optics factory in the State of Kuwait, the backbone of modern communications and data transfer.
2024 -- Ministry of Health announced success of the first kidneys transplant exchange operation, a procedure that coincided with launch of kidney transplant exchange program. (end)
