Egypt's Sisi Slams Israel For Gaza War, Opposes Palestinian Displacement

(MENAFN- Nam News Network) CAIRO, Sept 9 (NNN-MENA) – Egyptian President, Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, yesterday, condemned Israel for its military operations in the Gaza Strip, and reaffirmed his rejection of any attempt to displace Palestinians from their land, the Egyptian presidency said in a statement.

In a speech delivered at a virtual BRICS summit, Sisi stressed Egypt's“unwavering position that categorically rejects any scenario, aimed at displacing Palestinians from their land, under any pretext,” warning that, such moves would“liquidate the Palestinian cause, suppress the two-state solution, expand the scale of the conflict, and jeopardise the peace process in the Middle East.”

Sisi noted that, Egypt has prepared a comprehensive plan for the early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza, adding that, his country intends, immediately upon the achievement of a ceasefire, to host an international conference for the reconstruction of Gaza, in cooperation with the Palestinian Authority and the United Nations,“to mobilise the necessary support and funding to implement this ambitious plan.”

The Egyptian president also reiterated rejection of attempts, to impose Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank and of plans to build new settlements.

He called for international support“to revive the two-state solution” and to recognise the rights of the Palestinian people, to establish an independent state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.– NNN-MENA
