Amman, Sept 8 (Petra) – Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Monday unveiled a series of measures against Israel in response to the "genocide in Gaza."
According to Euronews, Sanchez said in a televised address that Spain condemns Israel's attacks on Gaza, which have killed 63,000 people and caused widespread malnutrition.
He added that Madrid will press Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to ease the suffering of Palestinians, stressing that Spain seeks to be "on the right side of history" during "one of the most shameful episodes."
"The Israeli military operation has turned into a new illegal occupation of Palestinian land and unjustified attacks on civilians, which the UN special rapporteur and many experts consider to be genocide," Sanchez said.
The measures include an immediate royal decree banning arms sales and purchases with Israel, prohibiting ships carrying weapons bound for Israel from passing through Spanish ports, and preventing aircraft transporting defense materiel for Israel from flying over Spanish airspace. They also bar individuals directly involved in the "genocide" from entering Spain and limit consular services for residents of illegal settlements.
