Spain Defeats Türkiye in European World Cup Qualifier

(MENAFN) Spain overwhelmed Türkiye 6-0 on Sunday in their second Group E encounter of the 2026 FIFA World Cup European qualifiers, held in Konya.

The Spanish squad began the match by applying intense pressure on their rivals and quickly found an opening to score.

After Spain’s Nico Williams challenged Türkiye’s goal but could not beat goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir, Spain opened the scoring in the 6th minute with a strike from Pedri outside the penalty area.

Maintaining excellent control over the game, Spain exploited gaps in Türkiye’s defense, adding two more goals through Mikel Merino, and concluded the first half leading 3-0.

Spain continued their dominant performance in the second half, extending the lead with goals from Ferran Torres, Merino, and Pedri, ultimately securing a 6-0 victory.

With this win, Spain stretched their unbeaten run to 27 matches and remained at the top of the group with six points, while Türkiye sits in third place with three points.
