ICE Launches Operation Patriot 2.0 in Massachusetts

(MENAFN) US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has initiated a new operation in Massachusetts, with a primary focus on the capital, Boston, according to a report by a news outlet.

The operation, named Operation Patriot 2.0, started over the weekend and is anticipated to continue for several weeks. Citing officials familiar with the initiative, the report highlighted that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) aims to apprehend "the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens living in the state."

In a statement released on Saturday, DHS delivered a firm warning: "If you come to our country illegally and break our laws, we will hunt you down, arrest you, deport you, and you will never return."

This operation comes just days before the Trump administration is expected to initiate a similar enforcement campaign in Chicago.

Additionally, immigration-related arrests have been rising in the nation's capital, Washington, DC.

An anonymous US official, who was not authorized to speak publicly, informed the news outlet that ICE has also planned an even larger-scale enforcement operation in the upcoming weeks.

Boston’s Mayor, Michelle Wu, has faced criticism from the current administration due to her backing of the city's sanctuary policies.

In its statement, DHS specifically called her out, accusing her of prioritizing "public safety threats above the interests of law-abiding American citizens."

Moreover, the Justice Department filed a lawsuit this past week challenging Boston's sanctuary city ordinance, known as the Boston Trust Act.
