UNICEF Approves Oman's New Childhood Plan

(MENAFN- Brazil-Arab News Agency (ANBA)) São Paulo – Child agency UNICEF approved Oman's childhood care plan for the period 2026–2030, following the conclusion of the previous program, which had been ongoing since 2022, state news agency ONA said.

In the plan to be implemented over the coming years, the focus will be on two key stages of life. One is early childhood, with initiatives to ensure expanded access to learning and the quality services needed during this period. The other stage is adolescence, aiming to strengthen opportunities for young people in education and skills development, among other areas.

The new plan was developed over the past year through a process involving government agencies, civil society, and other partners. In a statement during the UNICEF Executive Board meeting, delivered virtually, Oman's Minister of Social Development, Laila Ahmed Al Najjar, spoke about the country's commitment to advancing children's rights and the shared priorities in the Middle East and North Africa, highlighting support for parents and caregivers, as well as the protection of children in the digital space and in armed conflicts.

“Only through sustained investment in policies, programs and peace can we create safe, supportive and nurturing environments for children,” Minister Al Najjar said at the meeting, according to ONA. UNICEF's representative in Oman, Sumaira Chowdhury, said the partnership between UNICEF and Oman is based on the shared belief that investing in children is investing in the nation's future.
