Govt Rolls Out Angikaar 2025 To Accelerate Affordable Housing Scheme PMAY-U 2.0

(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Sep 5 (KNN) The government launched Angikaar 2025, a nationwide outreach initiative under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0).

Designed as a last-mile awareness campaign, Angikaar 2025 seeks to strengthen the implementation of PMAY-U 2.0 by expediting application verification, facilitating completion of sanctioned houses, and informing beneficiaries about linked initiatives such as the Credit Risk Guarantee Fund Trust for Low Income Housing (CRGFTLIH).

The campaign also aims to extend the benefits of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and prioritise housing needs of vulnerable groups identified under the urban housing mission.

Since its inception, PMAY-U has sanctioned 120 lakh houses, of which 94.11 lakh have been completed and delivered.

With its revamp in September 2024 as PMAY-U 2.0, the scheme targets financial support of up to Rs 2.5 lakh for an additional one crore urban families to construct or purchase pucca houses, advancing the government's goal of 'Housing for All'.

Angikaar 2025 will run from September 4 to October 31, 2025, across more than 5,000 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).

The campaign will involve door-to-door awareness drives, community mobilisation activities, and events such as camps, loan melas, and cultural programmes to ensure broad participation.

To mark the campaign, PMAY-U Awas Diwas will be celebrated on September 17, commemorating the first anniversary of PMAY-U 2.0.

In addition, a flagship event titled PM Awas Mela – Shehri will be organised at district headquarters and municipal corporations in larger cities, with activities scheduled in two phases-September 17 to 27 and October 16 to 31.

These melas are expected to serve as platforms for delivering scheme benefits, enhancing convergence with other welfare programmes, and fostering citizen engagement.

Following the launch, Kuldip Narayan chaired a review meeting with State and Union Territory officials to discuss strategies for effective rollout.

The Ministry underlined that Angikaar 2025 reaffirms the government's commitment to bridging gaps in implementation and ensuring last-mile delivery of housing benefits to urban communities across India.
