17,000 Civilians Remain In Active Combat Zone In Donetsk Region


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) This was announced at an online briefing by Dmytro Petlin, head of the Department of Civil Protection, Mobilization, and Defense of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.

“As for the communities classified as active combat zones, a total of 17,000 people remain there, including 34 children,” Petlin said.

He recalled that 18 communities in the region are classified as active combat zones.

According to Petlin, more than 1.29 million civilians have already been evacuated from the territory of Donetsk region controlled by the Ukrainian authorities, including more than 197,000 children and about 47,000 people with disabilities.

Over the past week, 1,830 people have left the region, including 309 children.

About 216,000 civilians remain in the territory controlled by Ukraine, including about 16,000 children, Petlin added.

As reported, the mandatory evacuation of civilians in Donetsk region has been ongoing since August 2, 2022.
