Transport Minister Inspects Maritime, Customs Facilities And Logistics Projects In Aqaba

Aqaba, Sept. 4 (Petra)-- In addition to strategic logistical projects in the area, Minister of Transport Nidal Katamine toured many key facilities in Aqaba, including the main port, the container port, the Arab Bridge Maritime Company, the Jordan Maritime Authority, and Customs Yard 4.
The move came as part of follow-up on the execution of the executive program for the Economic Modernization Vision in the transportation and logistics industry, the Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
As the Kingdom's entry point to international markets, a significant force behind regional trade, and a crucial hub in the national and regional transportation network, Qatamin underlined the significance of Aqaba as a key commercial and logistics hub.
In order to boost Jordan's competitiveness, assist domestic supply chains, and support the objectives of the Economic Modernization Vision, he continued, the Ministry is working to build out its maritime transportation and logistics infrastructure.
The Minister underlined the vital importance of this specialized container handling facility during his visit to the container port. It includes state-of-the-art infrastructure, such as a deep berth that can hold enormous container ships and sophisticated digital operational systems.
The Arab Bridge Maritime Company, a joint venture between Jordan, Egypt, and Iraq that operates a truck and passenger service between Aqaba and Nuweiba, was visited as part of the tour.
The company supports religious and commercial tourism, facilitates Jordanian trade and exports, and is an example of Arab integration in the transportation industry. In keeping with the government's initiatives to promote maritime connection and multimodal transportation, it operates a highly efficient fleet of contemporary ferries and trucks.
The Minister at the Jordan Maritime Commission stressed the value of theCommission's oversight and regulation function as a safety valve for the maritime industry, stressing that its initiatives to improve safety standards protect Jordan's maritime reputation and boost port competitiveness.
