Sharjah Press Club To Debate Media Future At 14Th IGCF

Amman, Sept 2 (Petra) – The Sharjah Press Club, operating under the Sharjah Government Media Office, will participate in the 14th International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) on September 10–11 at the Expo Centre Sharjah, offering interactive sessions and debates addressing contemporary media challenges and the impact of digital transformation and artificial intelligence on the future of journalism.
According to a club statement shared with Petra on Tuesday, the club will host an interactive corner allowing forum visitors to experience professional news presenting firsthand, providing a unique opportunity to explore the media work environment.
The sessions reflect the club's commitment to delivering updated knowledge aligned with technological and professional developments in the media industry and its vision to empower media personnel.
The club will host a debate titled "Journalism vs. Artificial Intelligence: Humans or machines?" exploring the opportunities AI offers for accelerating and developing journalism while also addressing ethical and professional challenges. Participants include AI, education and innovation advisor Hussam Al-Najjar and media and technology consultant Simon Thethy.
An interactive session entitled "For Smart Journalism: 30 Apps Every Journalist Needs," led by mobile journalism expert Nick Garnett, will showcase applications that enhance productivity, improve information gathering and analysis, and enable the creation of visual and interactive content, emphasizing tools that help journalists tell stories in more innovative and engaging ways.
Another session, "Headlines: The Key to Unforgettable News," presented by Majid Muneer, editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram newspaper, will examine the role of headlines as gateways to content and their importance in achieving news impact. The session highlights crafting headlines that balance professionalism and appeal amid the fast-paced, competitive digital news environment.
Graduates of the club's "Ithmar" media training program for ages 10–17 will participate through hands-on experiences, engaging with forum attendees to apply their acquired skills in a professional setting.
Through its initiatives and services, the Sharjah Press Club aims to strengthen professional communication, continuous knowledge development, skill-building, and experience exchange among media professionals, while creating effective platforms for dialogue to enhance the standing of journalism.
