Srinagar- Weather conditions in Jammu and Kashmir are expected to improve significantly from September 4, with forecasters predicting nearly 90 percent dry weather across the Valley. However, Jammu division may continue to see heavy rainfall for some more time as the monsoon remains active.
“From the morning of September 4, weather in Kashmir will turn mostly normal, with only isolated afternoon showers possible. Farmers are advised to resume their routine agricultural activities from that day,” Mohammad Hussain Mir, senior Meteorologist Srinagar said.
The current system, which has brought widespread rainfall and triggered flash floods and landslides in several districts, is expected to weaken within the next 36 hours, he said.
“Its major impact has been felt in Jammu and South Kashmir, while North Kashmir remained relatively less affected.”
Authorities have urged residents of low-lying areas to remain vigilant for the next two days, warning of possible waterlogging if rains continue. People have also been advised to stay away from rivers and streams, as sudden cloudbursts could trigger flash floods.
