Chinese Stocks Close Monday on Positive Note


(MENAFN) Chinese equity markets closed higher on Monday, with the Shanghai Composite Index rising 0.46 percent to 3,875.53 points. Meanwhile, the Shenzhen Component Index advanced 1.05 percent, finishing at 12,828.95 points.

Total trading volume for these two key indices reached 2.75 trillion yuan (approximately 386.9 billion U.S. dollars), marking a slight decline from the previous session’s 2.8 trillion yuan.

Shares in innovative drugmakers and memory-chip producers surged notably, contrasting with sharp declines in insurance, securities, and banking stocks.

Additionally, the ChiNext Index, which tracks China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, climbed 2.29 percent to close at 2,956.37 points.
