Govt Committed To Safeguarding Exporters' Interests Amid US Tariff Hike: FM
The assurance came during a meeting with a delegation of the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), led by its President S C Ralhan.
The delegation apprised the minister of the challenges arising from higher US tariffs, including reduced market access, pressure on competitiveness, and risks to employment generation in export-driven sectors.
According to a FIEO statement, Ralhan stressed the need for swift and calibrated policy support to mitigate the strain on exporters, who play a crucial role in driving India's growth and job creation.
Responding to these concerns, Sitharaman reaffirmed that the government“stands firmly behind Indian exporters in this hour” and will provide comprehensive support to sustain growth momentum and uphold resilience in global trade.
She also urged industry leaders to reassure employees of job continuity despite global uncertainties, underlining the importance of protecting livelihoods alongside maintaining export competitiveness.
