Kuwaitis Bag Six Medals At UAE Special Olympics MENA Equestrianism Competition

ABU DHABI, Aug 27 (KUNA) - Riders of the Kuwait Al-Tomooh Club for People with Intellectual Disabilities concluded participation in the Special Olympics the Middle East and North Africa Equestrian Competition in Al-Ain in the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday, winning three more medals and bringing the total to six.
Kuwait's female riders Basma Al-Busaili and Mariam Dhiab won a gold medal each, and Abdullah Al-Ali won the bronze.
Speaking to KUNA, Secretary General of Club and head of the Kuwaiti delegation Sadiqa Al-Ansari expressed pride for this achievement which show the spirit of challenge and determination of competitors, and the State's great support to those with special needs.
Kuwait's participation came to demonstrate the State's keenness on integrating athletes with special disabilities and harnessing their skills in international arenas, she noted.
Al-Ansari conveyed great appreciation and thanks to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for continued support to his sons and daughters of athletes.
She further appreciated Kuwait Embassy in the UAE and the Public Authority for Sports for their caring.
The competition kicked off Tuesday and concluded on Wednesday, with the participation of athletes from 11 Arab countries. (end)
