Statement:

His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, said that the national economy continues to enjoy significant benefits from the efforts to empower Emirati women over the past 50 years. Women have played active roles in the sustainable growth and prosperity of the UAE through running distinguished projects, businesses and economies. These positive developments are reflected by the country's leadership in most global indicators related to women.

His Excellency said that Emirati women have benefited from a supportive environment that empowers women and enhances their contribution to building the nation and shaping the future. Women are an active partner in the country's development process, thanks to the forward-looking vision of the national leadership. These efforts have been aided by unlimited support and continuous care from Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak,“Mother of the Nation”, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation.

He added that the celebration of Emirati Women's Day, which falls on August 28, is of a special nature this year because it coincides with the 50^th anniversary of the establishment of the General Women's Union, which plays a leading role in the empowerment of Emirati women.

HE Al Zeyoudi pointed out that the celebration of Emirati Women's Day this year under the slogan“Hand in Hand, Celebrating the 50^th” embodies the cohesive efforts of the national leadership, government agencies and institutions, and society to continue empowering Emirati women. Through these continues efforts, the UAE will continue to deliver a positive impact, consolidating its' prestigious global position in all fields.
