Washington: The US Treasury Department announced on Monday the removal of sanctions regulations imposed on Syria from the Federal Code of Laws, explaining that the decision will take effect on Tuesday.

The Department said in a statement posted on its website that the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) made the necessary amendments to remove the sanctions on Syria from the Federal Code, pursuant to Executive Order 14312 issued on June 30 regarding the lifting of sanctions on Syria.

The Department said that the regulatory amendment is now available for public review in the Federal Register and will become effective upon its official publication tomorrow.

Last June, US President Donald Trump issued an executive order fully lifting sanctions on Syria, opening the door to a new phase of economic and political relations between Syria and the world.

US President Donald Trump emphasized that the order came after changing circumstances in Syria, pointing to the positive measures taken by the new government led by President Ahmed Al Sharaa.
