Norway Allocates USD695M for Joint Air Defense Aid to Ukraine

(MENAFN) Norway announced Sunday it will deliver air defense support valued at nearly 7 billion kroner ($695 million) to Ukraine, partnering closely with Germany to supply the critical systems.

“Together with Germany, we are now ensuring that Ukraine receives powerful air defense systems,” Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store declared in a written statement.

The aid package includes two Patriot missile defense systems, funded jointly by Norway and Germany. In addition, Norway will back the procurement of air defense radars from German firm Hensoldt and systems from Norwegian defense contractor Kongsberg.

Both Patriot systems, agreed upon by the two nations earlier this summer, are currently stationed in Germany and will be deployed to Ukraine at the earliest opportunity, the government confirmed.
