Azerbaijani leader states nation has to be buckled up for war
(MENAFN) Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated Thursday that the nation must always be ready for war, emphasizing that national security relies on the state, its citizens, and the armed forces.
“Our armed forces stand guard over the interests and security of our state every minute, every day. We are observing and will continue to observe possible sources of threat,” Aliyev said during a visit to the Kalbajar region.
He noted that Azerbaijan has strengthened its military since the second Karabakh war in 2020, expanding special forces by thousands and forming new commando units. The country has also added modern drones, artillery systems, and upgraded combat aircraft to its arsenal, and has signed contracts for additional fighter jets.
“We must always be ready for war, because the course of global developments makes it impossible to predict what will happen tomorrow,” he said.
Aliyev warned, “If anyone gets the idea of committing provocation against Azerbaijan, they will regret it again. From now on, we will live as a victorious people and a victorious state.”
He also pointed to regional infrastructure developments, noting that one of Azerbaijan’s transport corridors will pass through Armenia, connecting the country to its Nakhchivan exclave.
