Illinois Gov. Refuses Trump's Decision To Send Nat'l Guard To Chicago

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, Aug 23 (KUNA) -- Illinois Governor JB Pritzker refused the decision of US President Donald Trump to send the National Guard to Chicago to curb violence and crime, similar to what he did in Washington D.C last week.
In his official account on X platform, Pritzker said that all what Chicago residents really want is to have cheaper food items and medical aid to low-income families.
"Unlawfully deploying the National Guard to Chicago has the potential to inflame tensions between residents and law enforcement when we know that trust between police and residents is foundational to building safer communities," he added.
Trump announced on Friday that he plans to send the National Guard to Chicago next, as part of his attempts to control violence in different US cities.
"Chicago is a mess. You have an incompetent mayor, grossly incompetent, and we'll straighten that one out probably next," Trump said. (end)
