Turkish FM, French minister evaluate results of Alaska’s summit

(MENAFN) According to diplomatic sources, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a phone call on Tuesday with his French counterpart, Jean-Noel Barrot, to assess the latest efforts aimed at resolving the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.

The two ministers reportedly exchanged views on the outcomes of recent high-level meetings held in Alaska and Washington, both of which were focused on advancing peace negotiations.

Talks have gained momentum following last week’s face-to-face meeting in Alaska between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, followed by a Washington summit that brought together Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and several European leaders.

However, the discussions remain complicated, with reports noting that contentious issues — including possible land exchanges and long-term security guarantees for Ukraine — continue to be central obstacles in reaching a final agreement.
