Iran’s armed clash cause death of one police officer, injury of another

(MENAFN) A police officer was killed and another person wounded during a confrontation with gunmen in Iran’s southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province, according to reports.

The incident took place Friday evening in a square in Iranshahr County, when police launched an operation against the armed individuals, who were allegedly "disrupting public security." Some of the gunmen were injured, but others escaped, prompting a manhunt. The slain officer was identified as Ramin Sadeqi.

Sistan and Baluchestan, which borders Pakistan and Afghanistan, has experienced multiple attacks targeting both civilians and security forces in recent years. On Sunday, one officer was killed and another injured in a separate attack in Saravan County by a group described as "terrorists."
