'Vote Chori' RowDuring a press conference on August 7, Rahul Gandhi levelled“vote chori” (vote theft) allegations against the Election Commission and BJP-ruled Centre, citing the Congress' internal analysis. The LoP stated that the Congress expected to win 16 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka but ended up with only nine.
Rahul Gandhi claimed that there was a theft of 1,00,250 votes in Karnataka's Mahadevapura segment.

BJP counterattacks 'Vote Chori' – What has happened so far?- The Bharatiya Janata Party, on Wednesday, launched a counterattack on the Congress party claiming that the former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi had been illegally, though briefly, added to the voter list 45 years ago, before she was an Indian citizen. Following Rahul Gandhi's allegations, Karnataka's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) asked Rahul Gandhi to submit“relevant” documents on the basis of which he had made the claims, for an inquiry to be initiated into the same. Last week, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of at least three states, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Haryana, asked Gandhi to submit a signed declaration with the names of“ineligible” persons included in voter lists and eligible voters who were excluded so that necessary action could be taken.
- Earlier, the Election Commission had demanded an affidavit under oath from the Congress leader to support his claims. Responding to the EC's notice, Gandhi alleged that they were meant to distract from the main issue of alleged irregularities in India's electoral rolls for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
