Lynn Smith (née van Rooy) is an academic and practitioner in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Johannesburg, specialising in biokinetics. She holds several degrees in Science and Health Sciences, culminating in a doctoral degree in Biokinetics. She is the Head of Department of Sport and Movement Studies and the current Chair and Discipline Lead of the Universitas 21 Health and Rehabilitation Sciences Group. Alongside administrative and clinical roles, she lectures at the undergraduate level, supervises postgraduate students, and publishes in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Her work focusses on physical activity interventions to support chronic disease management, cardiovascular rehabilitation, and quality of life enhancements. Her leadership in teaching and research initiatives is aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Good Health & Well‐being) and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), positioning her as a committed advocate for health promotion and for the professional growth of students and staff.
