Govt To Boost Spice & Turmeric Exports Through SPICED Scheme
Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada shared this information in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.
The initiative covers food safety and quality certifications, post-harvest quality upgrades, processing and value addition support, and stakeholder training for quality improvement and entrepreneurship.
It also includes quality evaluation of export consignments in accredited laboratories to meet importing countries' standards, as well as domestic and international buyer–seller meets to link farmers, exporters, processors, and global buyers.
The board will also work to ensure compliance with quality standards and enhance capacity building among growers.
It will document traditional knowledge and encourage research, clinical trials, and studies on turmeric's medicinal and wellness properties.
