Media reports India, Pakistan to conduct separate naval exercises
(MENAFN) India and Pakistan are set to conduct separate naval exercises in the Arabian Sea on August 11–12, according to a report by ANI citing defense sources. Both countries have issued airspace restriction notices over their maritime zones ahead of the drills, which are scheduled to take place around the same time.
Indian naval exercises will be held off the coasts of Porbandar and Okha in Gujarat, an area strategically important for trade routes and regional security. Pakistan has issued a similar NOTAM for its own drills.
The timing comes just three months after a four-day military clash between the two neighbors, which ended with a ceasefire on May 10. The confrontation did not involve naval forces, but tensions have remained high.
In July, the Indian Air Force conducted large-scale exercises along the Pakistan border, deploying frontline fighters such as the Sukhoi Su-30, Rafale, and Mirage 2000, along with air defense systems. On Saturday, IAF chief Amar Preet Singh revealed that Indian forces downed five Pakistani fighter jets and one AEW&C aircraft during the May conflict, crediting the Russian-made S-400 missile system for the unprecedented long-range kills.
