Clash in Iran’s Southeast Leaves Four Dead
(MENAFN) Four individuals, including a police officer, lost their lives during violent confrontations between security forces and armed militants in Iran’s southeastern province, local media reported on Sunday.
The attack targeted a police station in Sistan-Baluchestan province, where militants from the Jaish al-Adl group launched an assault, according to media.
Police Chief Mohammad Reza Eshaghi stated officially, “Three terrorists were killed, and two others were detained.” He also disclosed that one police officer was killed during the assault.
Sistan-Baluchestan, bordering Pakistan, has long been a hotspot for attacks carried out by Jaish al-Adl, which the Iranian government has labeled a terrorist organization. The group asserts it fights for the rights of the Baluch ethnic minority residing in the area.
