Türkiye’s Roketsan creates missiles with regional engines under new IDEF 2025 agreement
(MENAFN) Turkish defense company Roketsan has partnered with Istanbul-based Kale Jet Engines to equip its cruise missiles with locally manufactured turbojet engines, advancing Türkiye’s goal of a self-sufficient national defense industry.
The agreement, finalized at the International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF) 2025 in Istanbul, will fast-track the country’s efforts to boost defense localization.
As part of the deal, Roketsan’s Atmaca, Som, Kara Atmaca, and Cakir missile models will be fitted with Kale’s domestically produced turbojet engines—namely the KTJ-3200A, KTJ-3200S, KTJ-3700, and KTJ-1750.
The KTJ-3700 engine, recognized for delivering the highest thrust in its category, is anticipated to enhance the Turkish Armed Forces’ operational capabilities, particularly in long-range missions, while maintaining fuel efficiency.
Additionally, the KTJ-3200 stands out as Türkiye’s first indigenous turbojet engine to be exported, currently deployed in the Brazilian-Emirati MANSUP-ER anti-ship missile program.
This collaboration reflects Türkiye’s wider strategy to reduce reliance on foreign defense technologies and expand its domestic manufacturing capacity.
