Dubai: Emirates Warns Against 'Deceptive' Social Media Ads Selling Fake Tickets
Dubai's flagship carrier, Emirates, has temporarily suspended online advertisements and issued an alert warning passengers to be cautious of "deceptive" social media ads selling "fake tickets."
“We are aware of fraudulent advertisements currently circulating across social media platforms. This is an important notice to alert you regarding these deceptive ads that direct users to purchase fake tickets, share personal information, or click on malicious links. They often impersonate the official Emirates website - using lookalike links, branded visuals, and unauthorised trademarks,” it said in a statement to its customers on Wednesday.

Suspending all advertisingThe world's most profitable airline said it has temporarily suspended all advertising on social media to safeguard its customers.
“To safeguard our customers and uphold brand integrity, Emirates has temporarily suspended all advertising on social media channels. We are actively collaborating with platform providers to swiftly identify and remove these fraudulent advertisements, often within minutes of their appearance,” it said in a statement.
“Your safety is our highest priority. We strongly encourage you to remain alert and carefully verify any suspicious content,” it added.
As reported by Khaleej Times in July, a company allegedly sold hundreds of flight tickets before it disappeared.
In many previous instances, hoax websites ran campaigns of free tickets by the Emirates, which it denied and warned customers to source information only from its website and social media accounts.
