Jordan Welcomes UK's Move To Formally Recognize Palestine's State

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) AMMAN, July 29 (KUNA) -- Jordan welcomed on Tuesday British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's announcement that the UK would officially recognize Palestine's state during the UN General Assembly in September.
In a news statement, Jordanian Foreign Ministry's spokesman Ambassador Sufyan Qudah said his country appreciates British Prime Minister's decision as a key step to confront the denial of Palestinians' inalienable rights to self-determination, and the establishment of their sovereign independent state on the land.
The move is compatible with international efforts aiming to recognize Palestine's sovereign independent state on the 4th June, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the two-state solution, it noted.
Qudah renewed Jordan's unwavering position to continue action with international partners and brothers to support Palestinians' rights to freedom, and the end of occupation, self-determination and the establishment of a Palestinian sovereign independent state, it stressed. (end)
