Kim Jong-Un Vows North Korea Will Triumph In 'Anti-American Struggel'
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has vowed that his country will“undoubtedly prevail” in what he called its ongoing“anti-American struggle,” using the anniversary of the Korean War armistice to deliver one of his strongest messages of defiance this year.
According to state media KCNA, Kim made the remarks during a visit to the War Museum in Pyongyang on Sunday, July 27. He praised the“unshakable determination” of the North Korean people and government, saying they would“realize the great aspiration of building a prosperous country with a powerful army.”
Each year, North Korea commemorates July 27 - the date of the 1953 armistice signed by North Korea, the United States, and China - as“Victory Day,” marking what Pyongyang portrays as a triumph against U.S. aggression.
By contrast, South Korea does not observe the date with major ceremonies, underscoring the very different historical narratives the two Koreas hold about the war and its outcome.
Kim's remarks come amid ongoing weapons tests, deepening economic hardships, and escalating tensions with Washington - a backdrop that makes his message as much about rallying domestic resolve as confronting foreign adversaries.
