Pakistan Requests Social Media to Block Terror-Linked Accounts
(MENAFN) Pakistan has formally requested social media companies to block accounts associated with "terrorist activities," announced Deputy Interior Minister Talal Chaudhry.
Addressing the issue at a Friday press briefing, the minister highlighted that "many proscribed organizations, under UN sanctions and banned by the USA, UK, and Pakistan," continue to operate on these digital platforms.
Chaudhry pressed these companies to comply with Islamabad’s directive, urging them to deploy artificial intelligence (AI) tools to detect, block, and prevent the reemergence of such accounts, as well as to collect intelligence on their operators.
He further called on social media firms to open offices in Pakistan, emphasizing that doing so “would greatly improve coordination between the platforms and our law enforcement agencies, allowing us to respond more swiftly and effectively to these threats.”
