Tajikistan Puts Industry In Spotlight With New Operational Data
The data obtained by Trend from the Statistical Agency under the President of Tajikistan indicates that out of this number, 3,323 enterprises were involved in the manufacturing industry, 351 in the mining sector, 72 in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply, and 103 in water supply, waste treatment, and recycling.
The regional breakdown shows that 1,272 enterprises (33 percent of the total) were located in Sughd region, 873 (22.7 percent) in Khatlon region, 824 (21.5 percent) in the capital city Dushanbe, 697 (18.1 percent) in the Districts of Republican Subordination, and 183 (4.7 percent) in the Gorno-Badakhshan autonomous region.
During the same period, Tajikistan's industrial output reached 29.617 billion somoni (approximately $3.1 billion), marking a 24 percent increase in comparable prices compared to the first half of 2024.
The main driver of this growth was a 1.7-fold increase in production in the mining sector. Manufacturing grew by 5 percent, electricity and gas supply rose by 13.2 percent, and water supply, waste management, and recycling increased by 15.9 percent.
