Vedanta Aluminium Expands Primary Foundry Alloy Capacity By 120 KTPA In Odisha

(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Jul 26 (KNN) Vedanta Aluminium has announced a capacity expansion of 120 kilo tonnes per annum (KTPA) for Primary Foundry Alloy (PFA) production at its Special Economic Zone facility in Jharsuguda, Odisha.

The company, which was the first in India to manufacture and supply PFAs to the domestic market, aims to strengthen India's position in the global automotive and engineering aluminium supply chain through this expansion.

Primary Foundry Alloys serve as critical materials in automotive manufacturing, particularly for components including alloy wheels, engine blocks, cylinder heads, and transmission housings.

The company states that these materials are designed to meet the requirements of modern vehicles that prioritize fuel efficiency and emission control standards.

Vedanta's PFAs reportedly comply with international quality standards, including specifications related to BS-VI and CAFE regulations.

Rajiv Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of Vedanta Aluminium, described the expansion as a significant milestone in our journey to enhance value for our customers and position India as a global hub for advanced aluminium solutions, strengthening the Aatmanirbhar Bharat mission.

Chief Operating Officer Sunil Gupta noted that the portfolio expansion supports the shift towards lightweight, fuel-efficient vehicles while contributing to indigenous manufacturing growth and reducing import dependence.

The capacity expansion involves the installation of specialized casting equipment sourced from Befesa, Spain, including in-line metal treatment systems, degassing technology, and vertical chill casting equipment.

Vedanta plans to serve both domestic customers and international markets across Europe, North America, and Asia through this enhanced production capability.
