Kremlin reveals subjects of Putin-Trump conversation

(MENAFN) Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump held a nearly hour-long phone conversation on Thursday, according to Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov. The two leaders discussed ongoing efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine, the unstable situation in the Middle East, and potential areas for cooperation between Moscow and Washington.

Ushakov’s full statement was published on the Kremlin’s official website. He noted that Trump opened the conversation by highlighting that the US Congress had just passed his administration’s key legislative package, which includes reforms to taxation, immigration, and the energy sector — a bill Trump proudly refers to as the “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

Putin congratulated Trump on this legislative achievement and also extended best wishes for the upcoming US Independence Day.

During the call, Russia emphasized the historic role it played in America’s formation, referencing its involvement during the War of Independence over 250 years ago, as well as support during the US Civil War 160 years ago. Ushakov noted that beyond their alliance in the two World Wars, Russia and the US share deeper historical connections.
