Türkiye Offers Condolences Over Bangladesh Aircraft Crash
(MENAFN) On Monday, Türkiye extended its sympathies following a devastating aviation accident in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, which resulted in the deaths of no fewer than 20 individuals.
In an official declaration, the Turkish Foreign Ministry stated, "We are deeply saddened by the plane crash that occurred today in Dhaka, Bangladesh."
The ministry further noted, "We wish Allah's mercy upon those who lost their lives and extend our condolences to the people of Bangladesh."
The tragedy involved a military training aircraft operated by the Bangladesh Air Force, which plummeted onto the grounds of a college located in Dhaka.
The mishap led to the deaths of at least 20 people, including both students and the pilot, according to a report released by the army’s communication division.
Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed through a press note that 171 individuals sustained injuries in the catastrophe, with most victims suffering from burns.
Among those who perished were primarily college students and faculty members.
The aircraft’s pilot, Mohammad Towkir Islam Sagar, was also among the deceased. He was the only person aboard the Chinese-built FT-7 BGI combat trainer at the time of the crash.
