Iranian, Russian naval forces are to start joint maritime exercise

(MENAFN) Iranian and Russian naval forces are set to begin a three-day joint maritime exercise in the Caspian Sea on Monday, according to official statements.

The operation, titled "CASAREX2025," will be overseen by Iran’s Northern Fleet and is designed to enhance maritime security and coordination between the participating nations, as stated on the Iranian army's official news platform.

The drill will include warships from both Iran and Russia and aims to strengthen cooperation between naval forces in the Caspian region, while also improving overall safety at sea.

Units from Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), which operates separately from the country’s regular navy, as well as the national police, are also scheduled to participate.

Several neighboring Caspian littoral states are expected to attend the exercise in an observer capacity.
