Thousands of Moroccans Flood Streets to Protest Gaza Genocide
(MENAFN) Thousands of Moroccans flooded the streets of Tangier on Saturday to show unwavering solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza and to denounce what they called Israel’s ongoing genocide—now stretching into its 21st month.
The large-scale demonstration, spearheaded by the Moroccan Initiative for Support and Aid to Palestine, a prominent civil society group, wove through Tangier’s main thoroughfares before culminating in the city’s central square.
Protesters issued fierce condemnation of Israel’s alleged plans to forcibly displace Palestinians from Gaza and its continued military raids across the occupied West Bank.
Chants in support of Palestinian resistance echoed through the city, as demonstrators demanded immediate international intervention to stop what they described as Israel’s war on the Palestinian population.
Rally participants expressed deep solidarity with Gaza’s civilians, who are enduring catastrophic conditions—including continuous airstrikes, widespread famine, and mass displacement.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has launched an extensive military campaign in Gaza, marked by large-scale killings, starvation tactics, infrastructure devastation, and forced removals.
Despite repeated emergency rulings and warnings from the International Court of Justice, Israel has not ceased its military actions.
Supported militarily and politically by the United States, the conflict has so far killed or wounded over 199,000 Palestinians—mostly women and children—with more than 9,000 still unaccounted for.
The war has forced hundreds of thousands from their homes, and widespread famine has claimed countless lives.
