Russia wants to resume talks with US, ignoring attempts of disruption
(MENAFN) Russia intends to maintain constructive communication with the United States, even in the face of rising tensions and attempts to disrupt bilateral relations, according to presidential economic envoy Kirill Dmitriev.
Dmitriev, who also heads the Russian Direct Investment Fund, has played a central role in Moscow’s outreach to Washington and previously took part in meetings with US officials during earlier phases of dialogue under President Donald Trump’s administration.
In a statement shared on Telegram on Monday, Dmitriev stated that “constructive dialogue between Russia and the US is more effective than deliberately doomed attempts at pressure.”
He criticized the approach taken by former US President Joe Biden’s administration, claiming it had been “proven ineffective.”
Without naming specific actors, Dmitriev emphasized that discussions between the two nations would go on despite “titanic efforts” aimed at derailing them.
He further asserted that mutual respect, pragmatism, and economic collaboration form “the foundation of global security and a sustainable world.”
Since President Donald Trump returned to office, he has distanced himself from his predecessor’s strategy of isolating Russia. Communications between Moscow and Washington have resumed, and Trump has reportedly held multiple phone calls with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
