Türkiye Calls for Resolution of Violence in Syria
(MENAFN) Türkiye has conveyed optimism that the recent unrest in southern Syria will be "swiftly" resolved through dialogue at the local level led by the government, the Foreign Ministry announced on Monday.
Spokesperson Oncu Keceli stated in an official release, "We hope that the violent incidents occurring in southern Syria will be swiftly brought to an end through local-level dialogue by the Syrian government and that security will be established."
These comments followed violent confrontations between armed Bedouin tribal factions and Druze militias in the southern Syrian province of Suwayda.
Keceli emphasized that Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity must remain the foremost priority throughout this process.
He further noted, "Türkiye together with responsible stakeholders of the international community will continue to support efforts to strengthen stability and promote reconciliation in Syria."
According to preliminary reports from the Interior Ministry, over 30 individuals lost their lives and nearly 100 others sustained injuries during the clashes between armed Bedouin tribes and Druze militias in Suwayda.
The ministry conveyed profound concern and grief over the “bloody developments” that occurred between “local armed groups and tribes” in Al-Maqous, Suwayda, late on Sunday.
