China, Serbia Set to Conduct First-Ever Joint Military Training

(MENAFN) China and Serbia will soon conduct their inaugural joint military training, according to an announcement from the Chinese Defense Ministry on Monday.

Elite special forces from both nations will participate in a collaborative exercise named Peace Guardian 2025, which is scheduled to take place later this month in China’s northern Hebei province, ministry spokesperson Col. Jiang Bin said during a press briefing in Beijing.

"This will be the first joint training between the Chinese and Serbian militaries. It will help strengthen combat capabilities of participating troops and deepen cooperation between the two militaries," Jiang stated.

Ties between Beijing and Belgrade have significantly deepened in recent years, expanding across political, military, and economic fronts.

By 2024, China had emerged as Serbia’s second-largest trading partner, trailing only the European Union.

In a 2023 op-ed published in a Serbian newspaper, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the historical bond between the two nations, writing that their friendship “is soaked in blood that the two peoples spilled together,” and described this shared past as a force that “will encourage both parties to make together huge steps forward.”
