Ukraine reports two deaths, other injury in recent Russian strike
(MENAFN) Ukraine reported that a Russian airstrike on its capital overnight resulted in the deaths of at least two people and injured 16 others, according to official statements on Thursday.
“Sadly, two people were reported killed in Kyiv — my condolences to their families and loved ones,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a post on X. He also confirmed that 16 others sustained injuries during the attack.
Zelenskyy claimed the assault involved 18 missiles, including ballistic types, as well as around 400 drones, which were launched not only at Kyiv but also at other regions across the country. He described the strike as a “clear escalation of terror” and repeated Ukraine’s call for tougher and faster sanctions against Russia.
“There’s a need for quicker action from our partners in investing in weapons production and advancing technology,” he added, noting that he plans to speak with international allies later in the day to discuss additional funding for interceptor drones and air defense systems.
Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, stated via Telegram that the strike hit six districts of the capital. He said infrastructure was damaged, including both residential and commercial buildings.
